2021 Estate Merlot

While Merlot accounts for only 3.75% of our total planted acreage, it has claimed a much larger place in our hearts! This 2021 vintage of our Merlot is a perfect example of why Happy Canyon produces some of the most beautiful and complex Bordeaux varietals in the world.

Upon first sniff, you'll be struck by the wine's lively and complex nose, which features notes of rhubarb, cranberry, and tart cherry, along with a slight trace of clove and allspice. After the first sip, this lovely medium-bodied wine opens up with distinct notes of ripe cherry and red plum. Smooth and elegant, the ripe red fruit notes beautifully balance with the darker undertones of cocoa powder and espresso.
